At the AI Action Summit in Paris, the European Union announced a €200 billion investment to bolster its artificial intelligence capabilities. Although Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei calls it a ‘missed opportunity’ - as the Devil’s advocate, it looks like Europe has been preparing something big.
InvestAI Initiative
InvestAI program includes a €20 billion fund dedicated to establishing four AI gigafactories across Europe. These facilities will house approximately 100,000 advanced AI chips each, significantly enhancing the continent's capacity to train complex AI models.EU AI Champions Initiative
Over 60 European companies, including Airbus, ASML, Siemens, and Volkswagen, have joined the EU AI Champions Initiative. Spearheaded by General Catalyst, this coalition has pledged €150 billion to accelerate AI.Divergent International Perspectives
The summit highlighted differing global approaches to AI regulation. U.S. Vice President JD Vance cautioned against stringent regulations, suggesting they could impede innovation. In contrast, European leaders stick to their guns promoting more bureaucracy and a need to strengthen regulations.
At AI Action Summit in Paris, there are over 60 European companies in launch of the EU AI Champions Initiative a coalition focused on strengthening AI development and adoption across the continent.
